Walking tour «Khan`s treasures»
Sights: Kazan Kremlin, Bauman Street, Old Tatar Settlement

Duration — 3 hour

The Kazan Kremlin is the main sight of the city; it is a UNESCO world heritage site. The Kremlin is an official residence of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and a state museum-preserve attended by thousands of tourists every year. The white-stone Kremlin is the heart of the ancient city that incorporates the culture of the East and West. Minarets of the main mosque of the city – Qul Sharif – shoot up into the sky, and cupolas of the Annunciation Cathedral, oldest one in Kazan, shine with gold. Inside the fortress, there is one of the symbols of Kazan – the famous “leaning” tower of Tsarina Suyumbike.

Bauman Street is one of the most favorite places to walk for both residents and guests of Kazan, a meeting point for people in love. During the tour, make a lot of amazing discoveries: jets of fountains, belfry and Epiphany church where Fyodor Shalyapin was baptized, a monument to Shalyapin himself, a building of the National Bank, zero milestone. Meet Su Anasy and learn the story of the Cat of Kazan whose monument always attracts crowds. Beyond competition is a replica of a luxury horse carriage used by Catherine II to move around Kazan during her visit in 1767. Shiny windows of numerous souvenir shops are so luring. Being in Kazan and missing a walk in Bauman Street – one of the oldest streets in the city – is the same as missing something most important.

A sight-seeing tour in the Old Tatar Settlement is an opportunity to immerse oneself in the air of Kazan of the 18th-19th centuries. There are slender minarets and Tatar merchant houses here. This is the place where outstanding personalities of the Tatar people used to live: intellectuals, clergymen, merchants, and industrialists. Guests will learn the history of native people of Kazan – the Tatars – their education, occupations, culture, beliefs. The guests will try to solve mysteries of the Kaban lake, will meet Shurale and the witty Batyr. During the walk, the guests will learn why “Tatar” mosques feature a special architecture and will visit the oldest mosque of the Settlement.

Evening walking tour «Brilliant Kazan»
Sights: Bauman street, Kremlin street, Agriculturalists’ Palace, Kremlin Promenade

Duration — 3 hour

Bauman Street is one of the most favorite places to walk for both residents and guests of Kazan, a meeting point for people in love. During the tour, make a lot of amazing discoveries: jets of fountains, belfry and Epiphany church where Fyodor Shalyapin was baptized, a monument to Shalyapin himself, a building of the National Bank, zero milestone. Being in Kazan and missing a walk in Bauman Street – one of the oldest streets in the city – is the same as missing something most important.

The 1050 historical meters of Kremlyovskaya street represent an encyclopedia of the Kazan lifestyle of many centuries. Kremlyovskaya is a business street: there are quite imposing institutions there, such as the main post office or the Mayor’s office. Buildings in the street are an embodiment of creativity in various styles, ages, or countries. The street comes to an end with a compound of the University campus.

The Agriculturalists’ Palace is a modern building with a luxurious façade at the foot of the Kazan Kremlin. It somewhat resembles the building of Hofburg in Vienna or the Petit Palais in Paris. In front of the Palace, there is a green beautified area that commands an overview of the promenade of the Kazanka River and an elite residential compound.

The Kremlin Promenade is the most romantic place for walking in the evening. It commands a magnificent overview of the Kazan Kremlin, the Kazanka River, the Kazan Family Center in the opposite bank, and Millennium Bridge. Among the lights of streetlamps and their reflections in the dark surface of water, one can quietly walk the embankment, or sit in a café with a cup of tea or coffee.

Walking tour «Voskresenskaya street`s stories»
Sights: Kremlin street, Kazan Federal University, Ushkova’s house

Duration — 3 hour

1050 historical meters of Kremlin Street is an encyclopedia of the Kazan life of many centuries. Over the centuries, the street appeared on the maps of the city with different names: Spasskaya, Voskresenskaya, Chernyshevsky, Lenin. You will learn how the life of the townspeople developed outside the Kremlin walls, how walking and shopping streets appeared. You will be surprised by the number of ancient and elegant mansions, loud names of bygone times, the stories of former owners. Noblemen, merchants, artists, poets and talented students lived and worked here, on one of the oldest central streets. We will walk down Kremlin Street with you, and you will hear her whisper and secrets.

The Kazan University opened its doors for students back in 1804. Such outstanding persons as Lobachevsky, Butlerov, Ulyanov, Tolstoy attended lectures there; prominent scholars such as Arbuzov, Bekhterev, Vishnevsky, Chetayev, Engelgardt served there. Guests will see all buildings within the University campus: the main building, observatory, anatomy theatre, scientific library, high-rise buildings, the Chemistry Institute building.

Ushkova’s house is an amazingly beautiful building erected in the early 20th century across the main University building. Alexei Ushkov got married to a daughter of the University professor Zinaida Vysotskaya and presented her with the house as a wedding gift. Wishing to catch his wife’s imagination, Alexei decided to build a unique house that would combine all styles and currents of architecture and arts. Rooms inside the building are decorated in the Baroque, Rococo, Gothic styles. The house has survived in its almost unchanged looks thanks to Nadezhda Krupskaya, the wife of Vladimir Lenin. Since 1919, the building has housed a very rich collection of the National Library of Tatarstan. Its permanent patrons are the many students, but the mansion is open for tourists too.
